Larian offers Gerard Way a free copy of Baldur's Gate 3 after MCR singer admits he never played it

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way paused a Wembley Stadium show this weekend to answer a fan's banner asking whether he'd played Baldur's Gate 3 — and his answer was no. Way told the crowd he only ever played the original Baldur's Gate, plus the Icewind Dale expansion, but simply ran out of time to continue the series.

Larian Studios caught wind of the exchange and responded on X with a pointed callback to the game's own famous line: "What do you mean you haven't played the critically-acclaimed Dungeons and Dragons RPG, Baldur's Gate 3?" The studio followed that up with a direct offer — a free copy of BG3 with Way's name on it. As of writing, Way hasn't publicly responded to the invitation.

The moment landed with extra resonance because Way is a well-known D&D fan — the hobby even gets a namecheck in the opening of MCR's I'm Not Okay (I Promise). The shows were part of the band's The Black Parade 2026 Tour, and the fan sign was the work of TikTok user Katana Luciana, whose clip of the exchange spread quickly online. BG3 itself launched in 2023 to widespread critical acclaim, including a rare 10/10 from GameSpot. Larian has since moved on to a new project in its own Divinity universe, while the future of a potential Baldur's Gate 4 remains uncertain — reportedly with other studios declining to take it on.

The clip has been doing the rounds on TikTok and the broader gaming community seems delighted by the crossover. Whether Way actually boots up BG3 remains to be seen, but Larian has made the offer hard to refuse.
