Leak: Intel Nova Lake desktop CPU could pack 12 Xe3p graphics cores

Leaker Jaykihn has dropped hints on X that Intel's upcoming Nova Lake lineup will include a desktop SKU with 12 Xe3p integrated graphics cores — the same count as the Nova Lake-H mobile chip. If accurate, that would make the desktop Nova Lake-S something closer to an APU than a traditional CPU.

Jaykihn's exact words: "Nova Lake-H has a 12 Xe segment, and Nova Lake-S has a 12 Xe SKU. These are Xe3p." The Xe3p architecture has a complicated backstory — it was once tied to a discrete GPU project codenamed Celestial, which was supposed to debut alongside Panther Lake. That never happened, and Jaykihn claims Celestial "was canned long ago." Xe3p is now expected to surface in Crescent Island GPUs later this year, primarily targeting AI inference workloads using LPDDR5X memory rather than HBM. Whether it can pull double duty for gaming remains an open question, but Intel seems unlikely to push it into gaming-focused cards.

This matters because Arrow Lake desktop chips shipped with no meaningful integrated graphics at all — a notable omission that frustrated users who wanted a fallback GPU. For context, a 14 Xe core chip already impressed in the MSI Claw handheld, so 12 Xe3p cores in a compact desktop chassis could be genuinely capable. A Nova Lake mobile chip with a strong iGPU has also been discussed, though reports suggest that variant may be aimed at edge computing rather than consumer handhelds.

Jaykihn has a reasonable track record — correctly calling the B70 Pro launch timing in January and leaking accurate details about Intel's Core 300 laptop chips in April. Nothing is confirmed, but this is a leaker worth watching as Nova Lake approaches.
