Leaked LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade Cabinet set priced at $200, launching August 1

A leak from the r/Legoleak subreddit has revealed a LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade Cabinet set, priced at $200 and reportedly launching August 1. The set carries product code Mario: 72051 and is rated for ages 18+.

The build contains 1,367 pieces and recreates the first level of the original 1981 Donkey Kong arcade game — Donkey Kong at the top, Jumpman (Mario's original name) climbing the girders, and Princess Peach held captive above. The physical cabinet includes a joystick and buttons at the base, red DONKEY KONG lettering across the top, and internal layered sections representing characters and scenery. That last detail, combined with the controls, strongly suggests some kind of interactive mechanism — similar to the crank on the retro NES Super Mario set that let you scroll through a level. Kotaku notes this one appears simpler than the existing LEGO Pac-Man arcade cabinet, so don't expect a full-blown motorized build. No official announcement has been made yet, but r/Legoleak has a strong track record on this kind of thing.

The timing isn't accidental — Donkey Kong's 45th anniversary falls on July 9, 1981, making an August release a natural celebration window. LEGO and Nintendo have been on a serious collaborative run lately: Game Boy replica, Super Mario sets, and a wave of Pokémon builds hitting in October that includes Munchlax, Arcanine, Rayquaza, and a Poké Ball set with minifigures of Red and Professor Oak. Nintendo is also leaning hard into the DK brand right now — Donkey Kong Bananza launched as one of Switch 2's flagship titles, and an animated DK film is reportedly in the works for April 2028.

LEGO hasn't confirmed the set officially, but with an August 1 date on the listing and the anniversary hook, an announcement is likely imminent. A LEGO Cities: Skylines set also recently surfaced via a ratings board filing, so it's shaping up to be a busy few months for LEGO gaming fans.
