LEGO Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon's Tale sells out before its July 31 retirement

LEGO Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon's Tale has effectively vanished from shelves ahead of its official July 31 retirement date. Amazon, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and LEGO's own site all show the set as sold out — and with retirement days away, restocks look unlikely.

The set is a 3,745-piece build centered on Cinderhowl the Red Dragon from the Wizards of the Coast tabletop RPG. It stands over 19 inches tall, runs more than a foot wide and deep, and includes six minifigures — an innkeeper, a Dragonborn, and four adventurers representing the classic D&D classes. A brick-built Beholder is one of the standout construction moments, and the set ships with a downloadable D&D campaign designed to use the physical bricks as game pieces. Retail price was $359.99. IGN's Kevin Wong, who built the set, called it impressive across the board: "There's so many little nooks and crannies in this build, so many new things to see and explore at every turn. And the color scheme, with its bright blues and reds against the castle's neutral grays, stands out and grabs your attention from across the room."

When a LEGO set retires, production stops and it disappears from official retail. Popular sets tend to sell through before the retirement date even arrives — exactly what's happened here. After retirement, the secondary market takes over: eBay and third-party Amazon sellers typically carry retired sets at marked-up prices, while used copies can go for less but may be missing pieces.

If you still want one, your best bet is monitoring secondary market listings or checking if any retailer gets a surprise restock before July 31. Expect prices to climb once the set is fully gone from official channels.
