Marvel Rivals' Captain America swimsuit skin has jiggle physics where you'd least expect them

NetEase dropped a 4th of July swimsuit skin for Captain America in Marvel Rivals, and the internet has been losing its mind ever since. The cosmetic — called Seaside Sentinel — swaps Steve Rogers' usual gear for a tight mankini, an inflatable ducky shield, and, yes, fully animated jiggle physics in a place that has historically been reserved for female characters in games.

The skin is part of a broader summer wave that also includes beachwear for Loki and White Fox, with Daredevil and Black Widow having received swimsuit skins previously. NetEase's official description leans into the absurdity: "The beach crew voted Captain America should man the grill, just like the red, white, and blue-blooded specimen of American masculinity people believe he is. Unfortunately, his skills on the grill were not nearly as calculated as his shield throws." IGN confirmed the skin is entirely real and purchasable through the Marvel Rivals in-game store — not a mod, despite what many initially assumed.

Marvel Rivals has built a reputation for fan service cosmetics since launch, even as NetEase has publicly claimed it doesn't intentionally produce "gooner content." The Seaside Sentinel skin is the most visible test of that claim yet. Applying jiggle physics to a male hero in a mainstream superhero fighting game is genuinely new territory for the genre — Conan Exiles and Baldur's Gate 3 got there first in their respective spaces, but a game with Marvel Rivals' mainstream reach is a different conversation entirely.

Reactions across Reddit, X, and social media have ranged from gleeful to bewildered, with highlights including "Bro Steve stole Thor's hammer" and "Literally America's ass — that's my goat." One recurring joke is that modders have been scooped by the developers themselves.
