Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is getting a tie-in comic and variant covers this August

Marvel is leaning hard into Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls ahead of its August 6 launch — the publisher announced a dedicated one-shot comic and a wave of variant covers tied to Arc System Works' upcoming tag-team fighter.

The one-shot, Marvel Tōkon: First Strike #1, promises to expand the game's lore and flesh out the backstories of its playable heroes alongside its antagonists, the Promoter and the Champion. A preview shows three interior sections, each handled by a different writer-artist team: Steve Orlando, Josh Trujillo, and Tom Waltz on writing, with Bruno Büll, Áthila Fabbio, and Ryusei Yamada on art. The standout is Ryan Stegman's variant for First Strike #1 itself — rather than a static character model, it shows Wolverine slashing toward an unseen enemy in a burst of kinetic energy.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is developed by Arc System Works, the studio behind Guilty Gear Strive and Dragon Ball FighterZ, making it one of the more pedigree-heavy Marvel fighting games in years.
