Messhof's Bullet Heaven Platformer Blood Dungeon Launches August 25

Blood Dungeon, the new game from Nidhogg developer Messhof, has a release date: August 25 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC.

The game mashes 2D platforming with bullet heaven auto-attacking — think Vampire Survivors, but you're jumping and climbing through dungeons instead of standing in an open field. Players blast through over 100 enemy types using dozens of weapons, each upgradeable through unlockable perks. Nine playable characters each bring distinct traits and weapons to the table, and beyond the main dungeons there are six survival arenas, online leaderboards, and daily dungeon runs to keep things fresh.

Messhof is best known for Nidhogg, the minimalist fencing game that became a cult hit and a staple of couch multiplayer lineups. Blood Dungeon marks a sharp genre pivot — from twitchy one-on-one duels to a roguelite-adjacent survival loop. The game was first shown during Day of the Devs 2026.
