Monster Hunter Wilds gets a permanent price cut and new DLC bundles on August 4

Capcom is permanently cutting the price of Monster Hunter Wilds and overhauling its edition lineup starting August 4. The announcement came via the official Monster Hunter X account on July 13–14, roughly 18 months after the game launched at $70.

Three existing products are being discontinued: the Deluxe Edition, the Premium Deluxe Edition, and the Cosmetic DLC Pass. In their place, Capcom is introducing three new bundles. The Gold Edition pairs the base game with the new Cosmetic DLC Collection. The Cosmetic DLC Collection itself bundles all four numbered Cosmetic DLC Packs alongside the Festival of Accord packs — Blossomdance, Flamefete, Dreamspell, and Lumenhymn — plus the Deluxe Pack and Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack, ten packs in total. The Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack collects select paid cosmetics that were previously only sold as standalone items. The exact new price for the base game has not been announced yet.

Monster Hunter Wilds launched in early 2025 as one of Capcom's biggest releases, breaking series sales records and hitting massive concurrent player numbers on Steam. The price restructuring lands ahead of the Ascendance expansion, which is the game's first major paid content drop, and follows the recent announcement that Wilds is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 — a platform the original Switch never received due to hardware limitations. The timing suggests Capcom wants to lower the barrier to entry before Ascendance drives a new wave of players to the base game.

Player reaction on social media has been broadly positive, with fans welcoming both the price cut and the consolidated bundle options. The one lingering complaint — that character appearance edits still require vouchers — remains unaddressed for now.
