MTG Star Trek set launches November 13 with Borg, Picard, and real actor autograph cards

Wizards of the Coast revealed Magic: The Gathering Star Trek — a full Universes Beyond set dropping November 13 — during the July 14 WeeklyMTG stream. It's the final mainline set of 2026 and a commemorative release marking 60 years of the franchise. Preorders are live now on Amazon.

The set comes with four preconstructed Commander decks, each built around a three-color combination. We Are the Borg is an Esper (white-blue-black) deck led by the Borg Queen and built around a new Assimilate mechanic, which lets you take a creature from an opponent and put it onto the battlefield as a Borg artifact creature with a +1/+1 counter. Principal game designer Gavin Verhey said the mechanic started as a Commander-deck exclusive before he liked it enough to pull it into the main set. The Borg play like Slivers — every artifact creature you control gets buffed as the Collective grows. A second deck, Federation Fleet, is Jeskai (blue-red-white) and led by Captain Jean-Luc Picard, focusing on card draw and stationing spacecraft including multiple versions of the Enterprise, Voyager, and other ships from '80s and '90s Trek. The other two decks are themed around Spock and the Klingons. Each deck is $75 individually, but a four-deck bundle on Amazon runs $224.97 — effectively getting one deck free compared to the $300 combined individual price. Collector's Edition versions of all four decks are also available, with the full 100-card package in Surge foil.

Beyond the Commander decks, the set brings back the Spacecraft artifact subtype introduced in Edge of Eternities, with cards like U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class. The headline chase cards are Autograph cards — extremely rare alternate-art creature cards featuring actual handwritten signatures from actors who played Kirk, Janeway, and others. Fewer than 200 of these exist worldwide, and they're exclusive to Collector booster packs. Standard Play boosters run 15 cards and cover the full main set. There's also a Beam Me Up Bundle that adds a Collector booster and two foil promo cards on top of the standard bundle's nine Play boosters, plus two Scene Boxes depicting the Enterprise-Q episode and the J.J. Abrams reboot timeline.

More reveals are scheduled for July 17 at MagicCon: Amsterdam, where players can expect a deeper look at the full card slate. With Star Trek capping off what Wizards has called the most crowded release year in the game's history, the set is clearly positioned as a prestige product — the Autograph cards in particular are already generating collector buzz well ahead of the November launch.
