Netflix Minigolf Launches July 28 With Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Squid Game Courses

Netflix is dropping Netflix Minigolf on July 28 — a couch co-op party game that mashes up minigolf and pinball across settings pulled from some of the streamer's biggest shows. It's free for all Netflix subscribers, supports up to four local players, and uses your phone as the controller.

The game features 60-plus levels set in worlds from Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Squid Game, with players controlling characters from those shows. A "Pranks" mechanic lets you collect and deploy disruptions against opponents, adding a party-game edge to the golf format. Netflix Minigolf is developed by Next Games — a Netflix-owned studio that also built Netflix Puzzled, Boggle Party, and Party Crashers. The July 28 launch date looks deliberate: Netflix just premiered The Hawk, a golf-themed show starring Will Ferrell, on July 16, so the game rides that wave. It follows other 2025 Netflix game releases including a World Cup title and Unhinged, a horror game from Fight Club director David Fincher and Weapons director Zach Cregger.

Netflix Games has had a turbulent few years. The platform once chased AAA development, brought in high-profile hires, and then quietly abandoned that direction. The current strategy is firmly in the social and party game space — titles that are easy to pick up and don't require a dedicated gaming setup. Netflix Games narrative executive Sean Krankel told The Game Business that the goal over the next couple of years is for Netflix to feel like a "natural" place to play games rather than an "experimental" one. He framed the ambition around the idea of "playing a story" — making interactive narrative feel as approachable as jumping on a ride at Disneyland or walking into an escape room.

Netflix Minigolf is the most visible expression yet of that pivot toward accessible, IP-driven party experiences. Whether it converts casual Netflix subscribers into repeat gamers is the real test — and the answer will likely shape how aggressively Netflix expands its games catalog going forward.
