New Super Smash Bros and Nintendogs games reportedly in development, leaker claims

Prominent Nintendo leaker Malo932 claims a brand-new Super Smash Bros game and a new Nintendogs title are both in development. The information surfaced in a now-deleted YouTube comment that fans quickly screenshotted and shared over the weekend.

On the Smash front, Malo932 is clear this is a new game — not an expanded Switch 2 Edition of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. That distinction matters, since Ultimate is already the best-selling fighting game of all time and a natural candidate for a simple port upgrade. Series director Masahiro Sakurai has been quiet since finishing work on Kirby Air Riders, which has fuelled speculation about what he's working on next. As for Nintendogs, the leaker teased the return of a "cozy weird Nintendo series... barking. Wink wink, woof woof." The dog sim hasn't had a new entry since Nintendogs and Cats on 3DS in 2011, despite the original game selling over 20 million copies.

Malo932 has a solid recent track record — they correctly called two back-to-back Nintendo Directs ahead of time, and were first to leak the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, a new Star Fox, and a Switch Sports game, all before official announcements. That history gives their claims more weight than the average forum rumour. Nintendo has also been on a nostalgia revival kick lately, with Rhythm Paradise Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream both resurfacing older handheld franchises for Switch 2.

Malo932 also dropped additional claims on Famiboards: Mario Kart World DLC featuring Fox McCloud is supposedly coming next year, while 2027 is shaping up to include another 2D Metroid, a new Wario Land, a Star Fox adventure, and the next 3D Mario. None of this is confirmed, but given the leaker's recent hit rate, Nintendo fans are paying close attention.
