Nintendo Switch Online adds Wario Land and three more Game Boy classics in July

Nintendo dropped four more retro titles into Switch Online's Game Boy and GBA libraries on July 8, 2026. The headliner is Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, joined by two more Game Boy games and one GBA double-pack for Expansion Pack subscribers.

All three Game Boy additions are live now for any Switch Online subscriber: Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, the side-scrolling platformer originally released in 1994 where Wario hunts gold across a series of levels; The Sword of Hope II, a JRPG from Kemco; and Fortified Zone, a top-down shooter from Jaleco. Switch Online + Expansion Pack members get one more on top of that — Dr. Mario & Puzzle League, a GBA cart that bundles two puzzle games together.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 is the clear draw here. Despite carrying the Super Mario Land name, the game barely features Mario — it's really the origin story of Wario as a standalone character, and fans of the later Wario Land entries on Game Boy Color and GBA will recognize the greedy, treasure-hunting DNA that defines the whole series. The 1994 original holds up well as a tight platformer, which makes it one of the more genuinely exciting additions Nintendo has dropped into the Game Boy library since Switch Online launched the feature.

Nintendo hasn't announced what's coming next to the classic game libraries, but the service has been adding titles at a steady pace across both the base and Expansion Pack tiers throughout 2026.
