Off The Grid's latest update triples FPS on low-end PCs and overhauls combat

Gunzilla Games has pushed a major performance and combat update for Off The Grid, its cyberpunk battle royale, and the numbers are hard to ignore. Lower-end PCs are seeing up to 100 extra frames per second in tested scenarios — CEO Vlad Korolev puts that as up to three times the previous FPS — and the gains were significant enough for Gunzilla to formally lower the game's minimum system requirements.

Korolev called it "far beyond a typical optimization pass" and credited the entire team for what he described as an extraordinary effort. Beyond raw performance, the update reworks the core combat loop: weapon handling, gun feel, and feedback have all been overhauled, and the game's Cyberlimbs — the signature mechanical augmentations — got a comprehensive rebalance to make them feel more consistent in the moment-to-moment fight. The patch also redesigns the "Stay as Squad" endgame flow so winning teams can stick together, adds a new onboarding tutorial for new players, and rolls in a broad sweep of UI tweaks, world refinements, and crash fixes. The update is live now across all supported platforms.

Off The Grid launched into early access in late 2024 and positioned itself as a more mechanically ambitious take on the battle royale genre, leaning into vertical movement and cybernetic customization rather than the genre's usual looting-and-shooting formula. Performance issues on lower-end hardware have been a recurring friction point for a game that demands quick reactions and fluid movement, so dropping the minimum spec bar is a meaningful move for player accessibility.

With the combat system and Cyberlimbs now rebalanced alongside the performance gains, this update reads like Gunzilla trying to reset expectations and pull in players who bounced off earlier builds.
