The update adds two new Raid Mode scenarios set in Cypress Ridge, each pulling from a different crossover. The Tailbreak tie-in — Tailbreak being a dino-themed retelling of Dead Drop's older Dinobreak — introduces the poison raptor, an enemy that can stun you and drain health and stamina over time, forcing you to stockpile Blue Sprouts and other healing items to keep your infection level in check. The Railbreak DX crossover brings the Glitched Hack n' Slash, a neon dual-chainsaw enemy that resists stuns and slows — to deal with it, you'll want the upgraded Gatling Gun, a belt-fed two-hander that can suppress and take down the toughest threats. Both scenarios are non-linear, so smart routing can let you sidestep some of the nastier encounters entirely.
On the cosmetics side, the update adds Japan-inspired summer masks and other beach-themed gear, and the entire Cypress Reel movie theater hub has been reskinned for the season. The update also follows a recent Xbox Play Anywhere expansion that syncs characters, cosmetics, and high scores across console, PC, cloud, and handheld — cross-platform online co-op is supported throughout, so squads can play together regardless of platform.
Tailbreak launches August 7, and Railbreak DX has a launch window mentioned in the same announcement. Dead Drop says more crossovers and seasonal events are already in the pipeline, so the Cypress Ridge calendar isn't clearing up anytime soon.
