Palworld Card Game Launches July 30 — Here's How It Works

Bushiroad's Palworld card game hits shelves on July 30, and ahead of launch the developers have broken down exactly how the game plays. The first Booster Pack, Dawn of Palpagos, has already moved more than 3.5 million packs worldwide — a strong signal that the Palworld brand still carries serious momentum two years after the survival crafting game launched in early access and pulled in over 35 million players.

The card game is a two-player format built around four card types: Pals, gear, events, and structures. Each player runs a 50-card main deck and a 10-card soul deck. Soul cards act as the resource system — you rest them to pay for everything else, so early rounds are deliberately limited while later rounds open up chaining and high-cost plays. Pal cards carry three numerical values covering soul cost, attack power against Pals or structures, and strike damage dealt directly to the opposing player. Gear cards buff your Pals or damage the opponent's, event cards fire off a powerful one-time effect, and structure cards unlock special abilities when you assign Pals to them. Both players start on 10 Life Points, and taking direct damage means flipping cards from your deck equal to the attacker's strike value — but if a Lucky icon shows up in that flip, the damage is fully negated.

Palworld — the open-world survival game developed by Pocket Pair — became one of the fastest-selling early access titles in Steam history when it launched in January 2024, which makes Bushiroad's move into the card game space a natural extension of the IP. Bushiroad is a well-established name in the trading card game market, known for titles like Cardfight!! Vanguard and Weiss Schwarz, so the production pedigree here is solid.

The recommended entry point is one of two Trial Decks launching alongside the set — a Red/Blue variant and a Green/Purple variant of Dawn of Palpagos. Each Trial Deck comes with a play guide, paper playmat, life counter, all 60 cards needed to play straight out of the box, exclusive Trial Deck Super Parallel cards, and a Booster Pack to start upgrading immediately. Cards span multiple rarity tiers from Common up to Super Parallel, giving collectors and competitive players alike something to chase from day one.
