Paradox is deleting inactive accounts in March — log in once to keep yours

Paradox Interactive announced this week that inactive Paradox accounts will be deleted in March 2026. The news came via a forum thread and a post on X, framed as routine database maintenance.

According to forum staff account Elmaze, any account that hasn't logged in since September 2025 is considered inactive and will be swept in the cleanup. The stated reason is straightforward: trimming dead accounts "helps us maintain performance, reduce clutter, and keep our systems healthy for active players." Logging in through a game launcher counts — you don't need to visit the Paradox website. Local save files and owned games are stored separately and won't be touched either way, since they're not tied to the account itself. Paradox accounts are mainly used for multiplayer and forum features like badges, so most players won't feel the loss even if an old account disappears.

The one edge case worth knowing about: if your account is linked to an unclaimed game code and you've lost the email for it, deletion could mean losing access to that game. Elmaze confirmed that situation can be sorted out through Paradox's standard support channels before the March deadline.

In practice, this affects almost nobody who plays Paradox games with any regularity — a single launcher login in the next eight months is all it takes. If you're somehow on the fence about logging back in, Crusader Kings 3 is about to add playable popes, which seems like reason enough.
