Phasmophobia Quality of Life Part 2 update adds Restricted maps, VR fixes, and creepier deaths

Kinetic Games has shipped Phasmophobia's Quality of Life Part 2 update, now live on PC and PlayStation — Xbox is still to follow. The patch builds on Quality of Life Part 1, which launched in July alongside a reworked 13 Willow Street map.

The headline addition is a set of Restricted maps for Prison, Brownstone High School, and Point Hope — condensed versions of the originals built to speed up investigations and add more variety to runs. Evidence collection gets a quality-of-life pass too: the Photo Camera, Video Camera, and Sound Recorder now show faded overlays and yellow LEDs to indicate already-logged evidence, so players no longer have to flip open the journal mid-investigation. Evidence and ghost types picked by teammates are now visible to the whole team, cutting out last-second double-checking before a hunt kicks off. VR players get a more responsive character rig that tracks real-world body movement more accurately, plus a round of community-reported bug fixes. Death also gets a makeover — dying now turns a player's skin grey and their eyes misty, and voice chat cuts the instant they're killed.

The update lands a couple of months after Kinetic Games confirmed Phasmophobia's 1.0 launch had slipped from 2025 into 2027. The studio cited a commitment to quality over speed following a rough reception to its Player Character Update, which prompted a public apology admitting the team "missed the mark" and "didn't deliver on our promises." A string of patches and hotfixes followed as Kinetic Games worked through community feedback to stabilise the game.

With 1.0 now pushed to 2027, these Quality of Life updates are clearly Kinetic Games' way of keeping the community engaged while the bigger work continues. Whether the steady stream of improvements is enough to rebuild goodwill after the Player Character Update fallout remains the real question going forward.
