Phoebe Bridgers launches an itch.io infinite runner tied to her new single

Folk pop star Phoebe Bridgers has opened an itch.io page and dropped her first game — Lost Boys Game, a Subway Surfers-style infinite runner tied to her new single Lost Boys.

The browser game puts you in the passenger seat dodging goblins, hopping obstacles, collecting power-ups and grabbing PB coins across fantasy landscapes, all while the speed ramps up until a broken heart ends your run. A leaderboard lets you stack your score against other players. The game shares its name and a chiptune version of the track with the single itself, which draws comparisons to Judee Sill, and it extends the world built in the RuneScape-inspired music video for Lost Boys — a video starring Skyler Gisondo, known for playing Superman.

Bridgers is returning from a hiatus with this release, and the whole package — single, music video, micro game — lands as a cohesive creative drop rather than a straightforward album rollout. Itch.io is the natural home for something like this: the platform has long been a space for experimental, low-budget, and unconventional projects that wouldn't fit on Steam. Kotaku's writer gave it a couple of runs and notes it isn't quite Canabalt or the Chrome dinosaur game, but it's a solid first effort.

There's no word yet on whether Bridgers plans more games or a fuller album announcement, but the itch.io page suggests this gaming side project could grow beyond a single promotional tie-in.
