Pokémon Go Choose Your Path Fossil Fun timed research guide for June 2026

Pokémon Go has a new Choose Your Path: Fossil Fun timed research running from June 17 to June 21. It unlocks every Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time and expires Sunday at 8 p.m.

Once you claim the auto-completed research in your events tab — which hands out 500 Stardust and 5 Poké Balls — Professor Willow prompts you to pick a path. The options are: Explore (PokéStops) for 5x XP on spins, Catch (XP) for 1.5x XP on nice throws or better, Battle (Raids) for an extra 5,000 XP per raid, Explore (Hatch) for halved egg hatch distance, Catch (Candy) for bonus candy on nice throws or better, and Battle (Team Go Rocket) for extra Mysterious Components from grunts. Rewards at the end of each path are identical, so just pick whatever fits how you're playing that week.

Niantic is still testing the format — some players see three choices, others see six. If you get six options, you pick a fresh path each day and receive daily timed research. If you only see three, your chosen path runs through Sunday. The r/TheSilphRoad community has already flagged the discrepancy and is comparing notes on which version they're seeing.
