PS Plus July 2026: CrossCode, For the King II, and Modern Warfare III are this month's free games

PlayStation confirmed its July 2026 PS Plus lineup on July 1 — Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, For the King II, and CrossCode are all free to add starting July 7. All three titles are available on both PS5 and PS4, and you have until August 3 to claim them before the next batch takes over.

Modern Warfare III — the 2023 entry, not the 2011 original — is the headline name, though it's widely considered one of the weaker entries in the series. The campaign drew criticism at launch, but the multiplayer is still fast and responsive, and a wave of new players joining through PS Plus should make for easy pickings if you're a returning vet. For the King II is a tactical RPG with co-op roguelike elements that's been on plenty of wishlists but easy to keep putting off. CrossCode is the real gem here — the 2018 action RPG from Radical Fish Games earned strong praise at launch, including from former Kotaku writer Jason Schreier, who called it "excellent."

CrossCode has built a quiet cult following over the years, blending fast puzzle-heavy gameplay with a surprisingly deep story set inside a fictional MMO world. It originally launched on PC in 2018 after a long early access run, and the console port brought it to a wider audience. For the King II, developed by IronOak Games, expanded on the original's board game-inspired formula with more classes, biomes, and a proper online co-op mode — it's a solid pick for anyone who likes their RPGs with a strategic edge.
