PS Plus Premium currently offers unlimited cloud streaming with no hourly caps, but there are real questions about whether Sony will keep that policy in place as the service matures and costs scale up.

Sony has never formally committed to unlimited streaming as a permanent feature — it's simply how the service works right now. Cloud streaming lets Premium subscribers play a large catalog of PS3, PS4, and PS5 titles without downloading them, which is a meaningful perk for players with limited storage or slow download speeds. The lack of a cap is generous compared to some rival services, but Sony hasn't made any public guarantees about keeping it that way.

PS Plus Premium is the top tier of Sony's three-tier subscription structure, sitting above Essential and Extra. Cloud streaming is one of its headline differentiators — alongside classic game trials and a broader game catalog — and it's the feature most likely to carry ongoing infrastructure costs that Sony will eventually want to manage. Game streaming is expensive to run at scale, and as the subscriber base grows, the pressure to introduce usage limits or tiered streaming access tends to increase.
