Ray Chase has 1,000 hours in Slay the Spire and is running a smell build in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Ray Chase — voice of Cyclops in X-Men '97 and the lead in Final Fantasy 15 — sat down with PC Gamer's Disk Cleanup series to talk about his PC gaming habits, current obsessions, and the smell build he's running in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Chase is deep into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, calling it "the perfect encapsulation of what a roleplaying game should be." His current playthrough is built around a smell and appearance system: his character wears perfumes and fine clothes, and the stat bonuses are strong enough to function as armor. "I wear perfumes and walk into battle with my fancy boy outfit. And my enemies are too stunned," he says. He's also been playing Deltarune Chapter 5 and recently finished Mina the Hollower, which he deliberately played out of order — tackling dungeons in the wrong sequence for the challenge, then looping back to breeze through the easier ones. He's not a completionist: "I'm whatever my percentage is when I complete the game. That's what I live with." He also mentioned a Disco Elysium regret — failing the roll to trigger the cryptozoologist ending and deciding he'll simply never know what it says.

Chase grew up on shareware DOS games — Duke Nukem 1 and 2, Wolfenstein 3D, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, and Jack Pack, which he loved for its level editor. He's been a voice actor since the early 2000s, with hundreds of game, film, and TV credits. Beyond acting, he co-founded Sassy Chap Games, which released Date Everything in 2025 — a dating sim where players romance anthropomorphised household objects, built as a showcase for voice acting talent. The studio recently shipped a major update and is now pitching the next chapter of the story. X-Men '97 season two just aired, and Chase says recording is already underway on season four, with the results expected to surface in a couple of years.

The interview is part of PC Gamer's ongoing Disk Cleanup weekend series. Chase didn't mention what's next on his gaming list beyond his current Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 run, but given he's logged 1,000 hours in Slay the Spire, it's safe to say his backlog isn't the problem.
