Rosario Dawson has confirmed she shot a scene as Clare Temple for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, only for it to be removed before the film's release. She made the revelation at GalaxyCon, telling fans she had filmed her first appearance as the character in over six years — without explaining why the scene was ultimately cut.

Dawson played Clare Temple across 32 episodes of Marvel's Netflix era, appearing in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders. The character served as a connective thread across those shows — a nurse who patched up street-level heroes and helped ground them in a shared universe. Her cut scene reportedly involved helping a wounded hero, which lines up with a tip from Marvel insider DanielRPK, who claimed last year that Dawson would return in the film in exactly that capacity. Fans had also noted that the UK shoot dates for Brand New Day conveniently overlapped with Dawson already being in the country filming Ahsoka season 2.

Clare Temple's absence from the MCU's Netflix revival has been conspicuous. Daredevil: Born Again has brought back a wave of characters from that era, and the show's upcoming second season adds more — but Temple hasn't surfaced. The show has even addressed Luke Cage's current situation, revealing he's now a father to Danielle, his daughter with Jessica Jones, which quietly closes the door on his relationship with Temple without ever showing her. Whether Born Again will run to a fourth season — and whether that might finally bring Temple back — remains unknown.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens July 31, and Dawson won't be in it. The film has plenty of other mysteries to keep fans busy, including Sadie Sink's still-unconfirmed role and Tom Holland's pointed denial that Jean Grey appears in the movie.
