Schrödinger's Call is one of 2026's highest-rated games so far

Schrödinger's Call, the debut game from Japanese indie studio Acrobatic Chirimenjako, launched February 10 on Windows PC and later on Nintendo Switch, and it's already pulling exceptional scores — 89 on Metacritic and 92 on OpenCritic.

The setup is quietly unsettling: a girl sits in a dark Victorian-style room with nothing but an old phone and a notebook. A black cat tells her she must answer when it rings and listen to whoever is on the other end. The game builds its identity around themes of connection and what it means to truly know yourself.
