Skate brings the X Games to San Vansterdam in its biggest event yet

Full Circle is dropping Skate's largest event to date: a full X Games takeover of The Stadium in San Vansterdam. Announced via the game's Steam page on July 16, the event runs from July 21 to August 25 — one month to skate iconic X Games terrain, completely free, no Rip Chips or Premium Pass required.

The Stadium, which arrived with Season 4, gets transformed into a proper X Games venue with a competition vert ramp, a street park, and a bowl section. Players get 10 unique challenges — six inside The Stadium and four out in the surrounding streets — plus four sets of limited-time X Games Club Tasks. Those tasks ask you to land iconic tricks inspired by pro skaters from Los Angeles, New York, São Paulo, and Tokyo. Completing challenges and posting high scores earns X Coins, which you can spend on exclusive X Games merch: replica jerseys, shirts, boards, and wheels.

Skate has been in free-to-play early access on PC and consoles, with Full Circle steadily building out San Vansterdam through seasonal content drops. The X Games partnership is a significant brand moment for the game — X Games is one of action sports' most recognizable institutions, and having it appear in-game gives Skate a cultural credibility boost that goes beyond a standard seasonal event. The timing also matters: Season 4 is at its midpoint, and a high-profile collab like this keeps momentum going through the summer.

The event is limited-time for now, with Full Circle suggesting something else could take over The Stadium once the X Games month wraps on August 25. This announcement comes roughly five months after Full Circle laid off an unspecified number of employees as part of a restructuring ahead of the game's "next chapter" — so it's good to see the studio pushing out its most ambitious event yet despite the turbulence.
