Soulframe opens to all players ahead of Tennocon, adds wolf mounts, Vadagar Pact, and vegan fishing

Digital Extremes is opening Soulframe – its fantasy action-RPG still in pre-alpha – to all players for a limited sign-up window running until July 12th, timed to coincide with the annual Tennocon expo. New content arriving alongside the open access includes wolf mounts, a Warsongs origin quest, and a brand-new dark progression path called the Vadagar Pact.

The Vadagar Pact is the headline addition. Where existing Pacts give your Envoy character a set of Virtues, Vadagar replaces those with three stats called Vespers – Wrath, Doom, and Death – and leans hard into a corrupted, ichor-drenched aesthetic. Abilities include pinning enemies with a pillar of goop, sending goop conduits through the floor, and summoning goop horses to trample crowds. There's also a corrupted whipsword – a twisted version of a standard-faction weapon – useful for crowd control. A new boss, the Mendicant Reinbreaker, is already live in the game, and defeating it unlocks a rideable goop horse mount. Crucially, Digital Extremes says picking Vadagar doesn't lock you out of other Pacts permanently – it's framed as channelling the powers of the Ode, Soulframe's resource-harvesting enemy faction, rather than a hard alignment switch.

Soulframe has been moving through a series of closed pre-alpha "Preludes" since Digital Extremes announced it as a companion project to Warframe. The studio has been fairly open with access codes, but the Tennocon window is the broadest invite yet. Players who miss the July 12th deadline can still get in by purchasing a Founder's Pack, which also includes exclusive cosmetic items. The game's tone sits firmly in earnest eco-fable territory – sessions literally begin with your character asleep under a pile of woodland creatures, and enemy wardogs are freed from enchanted helms rather than killed. That philosophy extends to the new fishing minigame, which Digital Extremes described in pre-Tennocon presentations as "vegan fishing": instead of catching fish, you're cleansing creatures mutated by Ode interference.

The open window and Tennocon timing suggest Digital Extremes wants a bigger player base stress-testing the build before the next major Prelude milestone. Wolf mounts and the Warsongs quest don't have confirmed release dates beyond the current update window, so players jumping in now will find the Mendicant Reinbreaker and Vadagar content live, with more to follow.
