Steam Deck LCD OEM replacement batteries are back on iFixit — but now cost $130

OEM replacement batteries for the Steam Deck LCD are back in stock on iFixit after a period of unavailability, but the price has jumped sharply. The part alone now costs $130, up from around $80 previously — a nearly 63% increase.

The specs haven't changed: the L-shaped battery is still rated at 5200 mAh and 40 Wh. If the price is a dealbreaker, iFixit also stocks an aftermarket LCD battery for $80 — the same capacity figures, just not an OEM Valve part. That non-OEM option was originally introduced as a stopgap while Valve's stock was out, but it's still available. For comparison, OEM replacement batteries for the Steam Deck OLED remain at $80, and those carry a larger 6470 mAh / 50.08 Wh cell — roughly 20% more capacity than the LCD model.

The price hike isn't entirely surprising given the context. Valve quietly discontinued the LCD Steam Deck late last year, which typically means replacement parts become harder and more expensive to source. On top of that, an ongoing memory supply crunch is pushing up component costs across the board, and more people are opting to repair older hardware rather than buy new — which puts extra pressure on spare parts availability.

Whether the $130 OEM price is worth it over the $80 aftermarket option comes down to how much you value the official part. For most users, the aftermarket battery at the same capacity spec is probably the more sensible buy right now.
