Steam Store goes down with 'too many requests' errors

Steam's storefront is currently down, throwing "too many requests" errors at anyone trying to load Steampowered.com. It's not a user-side issue — SteamStat.us confirms the errors are hitting both the Steam Store and Steam Community simultaneously.

Most of Steam's other services are still running fine. Friends lists are online, matchmaking is operational, and the status page shows green lights across the board — it's specifically the web-facing store that's struggling. The timing is notable: the Steam Summer Sale ends today, which could be driving an unusual spike in traffic as last-minute shoppers pile in.

Valve runs scheduled weekly maintenance on Tuesdays, so a Monday or Thursday outage like this is outside the normal pattern and worth paying attention to.
