Tekken 8 adds Bob on 19th August as the game fights to win back its community

Bob is officially joining Tekken 8 on 19th August, with his gameplay trailer dropping at Evo 2026 this past weekend. The reveal confirmed his moveset, his signature speed, and one already-iconic intro animation where he tanks Kazuya's punch with his belly — right after dodging a satellite-destroying death laser.

The trailer landed to a noticeably warm reception, which matters given how rough things have been for Tekken 8 lately. Season 3 is sitting at Mixed reviews on Steam, with players criticising balance changes that feel arbitrary and punish defensive play styles. High-profile departures — including series legend Katsuhiro Harada and game director Kohei Ikeda — have added to the uncertainty around the game's direction. Bob's reveal cut through some of that noise. Reddit's r/Tekken lit up with comments praising the "silly fun" he brings back to the roster, and at least one player said the trailer alone might convince them to buy the Season 3 pass.

Bob has been a fan favourite since his debut in Tekken 6, known for the absurd combination of enormous size and blinding speed — a gimmick the new trailer leans into hard. He joins a Season 3 roster that also includes Yujiro Hanma from the Baki anime, signalling Bandai Namco is leaning on crowd-pleasing picks to stabilise sentiment.
