According to Wikipedia's all-time sales rankings, The Witcher 3 now sits eighth on the list — ahead of Super Mario Bros. at 58 million, but behind Terraria's 70 million. The true giants of the chart, Tetris, Minecraft, and GTA 5, are still well out of reach. What makes the milestone striking is the consistency of the climb: the game hit 20 million in 2019, 50 million in 2023, 60 million in 2025, and now 65 million just a year later. That's roughly five to six million copies per year, every year, for over a decade — with no meaningful slowdown in sight.

The Witcher 3 turned 11 this year, and it's still selling like a game people are actively recommending to each other. The Songs of the Past expansion, targeting a 2027 release, should push another sales bump when it lands. CD Projekt also teased additional content arriving this year, suggesting there's more Geralt content in the pipeline beyond what's already been announced.

The cynical read is that Songs of the Past exists partly to bridge the gap while The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 remain distant on the horizon. But whatever the motivation, the sales data tells a clear story — eleven years in, The Witcher 3 is still one of the most reliably purchased games on the market.
