This $8 MTG combo turns Mr. Fantastic and The Locust God into infinite creatures

Magic: The Gathering's Marvel Super Heroes set keeps delivering cheap, powerful combos — and this Izzet one pairs Mister Fantastic with The Locust God for infinite creature tokens and card draw, with the whole package costing around $8.

The engine works like this: Mister Fantastic's ability lets you draw a card whenever a creature token enters the battlefield under your control. The Locust God, a six-mana 4/4 flier, creates a 1/1 insect token with flying and haste every time you draw a card. Put those two together and you've got a loop — tokens trigger draws, draws trigger more tokens. The Locust God also has an activated ability that can draw you cards on its own, which means it can even find Mister Fantastic if you haven't drawn him yet. The combo can come online as early as turn six, or faster with ramp. The Locust God is also notoriously hard to remove permanently — when it dies, it returns to its owner's hand at the next end step, so opponents need exile effects to deal with it for good. Slapping Swiftfoot Boots or similar protection on Mister Fantastic makes the whole setup even more resilient.

The Marvel Super Heroes set is the latest Universes Beyond release for MTG, blending Marvel IP with Magic's card mechanics. The set has already produced several notable combos — including one involving The Incredible Hulk and Caltrops — and Mister Fantastic is shaping up to be one of the more combo-friendly cards in the set for Commander players. The Locust God itself is a fan-favorite from the Hour of Devastation era and has long been a staple in token and draw-heavy Commander builds, so the pairing feels natural even if the flavor is a little odd.

If you want to lean further into the Marvel theme, Red Ghost, Intangible Genius is a solid addition — this 2/3 can't be blocked, has ward 2, and generates 3/3 red Ape Villain tokens with haste when you draw your second card each turn. It's also Izzet, so it slots cleanly into the same deck. Expect Mister Fantastic to become a Commander staple as players keep finding new ways to abuse token synergies.
