This custom copper PC uses a repurposed blowtorch as a reservoir — and the builder wants it to tarnish

Reddit user Old-Mate-Fetus built a custom copper liquid-cooled PC that looks more like industrial art than a gaming rig, and the blowtorch reservoir at its heart is the reason why.

The build runs an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with a Gigabyte 9070 XT Gaming OC, sitting on a Gigabyte B650M Aorus Elite motherboard with 32 GB of Klevv DDR5-6000 RAM. Cooling is handled by an Alphacool Core RX 9070 XT GPU block and a Heatkiller IV CPU block, fed by an Alphacool DDC pump in a custom enclosure. The reservoir — the real showstopper — is a repurposed Primus blowtorch with a sight gauge fitted to it. The whole thing lives in a custom wooden case, uses cables hand-made from a Corsair 850W SFX PSU, and is cooled by Noctua Industrial 120mm fans. Total weight: close to 20 kg.

Custom copper loops are a niche within a niche in the PC building world — copper oxidises over time and can cause galvanic corrosion if mixed with other metals, so builders who go this route are committing to a specific aesthetic and a fair amount of maintenance awareness. The blowtorch-as-reservoir idea is genuinely unusual even by those standards; most custom loop builders opt for acrylic or glass reservoirs to show off the coolant colour.

Old-Mate-Fetus says they're "just going to let it tarnish over time, i quite like the look" — which is either a bold design philosophy or a very relaxed attitude to corrosion, possibly both. A corner of the screen visible in the post shows Overwatch running, so the machine is clearly already earning its keep.
