Tomb Raider Catalyst, Kingdom Come sequel, and Darksiders 4 all targeting fiscal 2028

Embracer Group CEO Phil Rogers has confirmed release windows for several major upcoming titles. Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the next Kingdom Come game from Warhorse Studios, and Darksiders 4 are all slated for Embracer's 2028 financial year — meaning they'll arrive between April 1, 2027 and March 31, 2028.

Closer on the horizon, Metro 2039 and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis both have confirmed February 2027 release dates. Legacy of Atlantis is a full Unreal Engine 5 remake of the original Tomb Raider, while Catalyst is a brand-new entry in the franchise. Embracer flagged Metro 2039's momentum as "strong," noting it hit 1 million wishlists faster than any title in the company's history — "wishlists continue to grow ahead of expectation," the company said. On the strategy side, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, which was recently delayed, now targets December 2026. Warhorse is also developing an open-world Middle-earth RPG alongside the next Kingdom Come game, led by Viktor Bocan — design director on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 — though that project has no release window yet.

Embrace's portfolio context matters here: Fellowship Entertainment, which Embracer is in the process of spinning off, holds the rights to Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Tomb Raider, Darksiders, Dead Island, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Metro, and Remnant, among others. Warhorse's Middle-earth RPG is the most intriguing unknown in that lineup — the studio built its reputation on grounded, historically authentic open-world RPGs with Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel, and applying that design philosophy to Tolkien's world is an unusual but compelling pitch. Which era of Middle-earth the game covers hasn't been revealed.

The fiscal 2028 window for three high-profile titles is ambitious, and Rogers himself acknowledged that game development timelines can shift. For now, the clearest near-term deliverable is Metro 2039, whose wishlist numbers suggest 4A Games has genuine momentum heading into its February 2027 launch.
