Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 quietly pulled from Xbox Game Pass July lineup

Microsoft has removed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 from its July 2026 Game Pass lineup without any explanation. The game was originally scheduled to hit Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass on July 21, but an editor's note quietly added to the Xbox Wire announcement confirms it's gone.

No replacement has been announced. The Xbox Wire post has been edited to show only the remaining nine games coming to the service this month. The leading theory is a licensing issue — Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 launched in September 2020 and is packed with licensed music from the 2000s and '90s, plus real-world skateboarding brand deals, all of which carry expiring rights. Those licenses may simply not cover a Game Pass release nearly six years after launch. Microsoft owns the game outright through its $69 billion Activision Blizzard acquisition in 2023, so there's no third-party publisher blocking the move — which makes the silence even more puzzling. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, by contrast, is still on Game Pass after being added when it launched last year.

The removal lands at an awkward moment for Xbox. Microsoft cut 1,600 staff last week as part of a broader "reset" of the Xbox business, with four studios also shuttered. Another 1,600 cuts are expected before the end of the financial year. The company has said it's refocusing on its biggest franchises — Halo, The Elder Scrolls, and Fallout — leaving the fate of smaller titles like this one less certain. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 was widely praised on release for faithfully recreating the original games while modernizing the trick system.

The rest of the July Game Pass lineup remains intact: Quarantine Zone: The Last Check (July 15), Mavrix by Matt Jones (July 16), FixForce (July 17), Fogpiercer (July 17), and The Planet Crafter (July 21). Microsoft has not said whether Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 will be rescheduled or if a replacement is coming.
