Total War: Warhammer 40,000 confirms Ork Warboss Nazdreg alongside a growing named character roster

Games Workshop has confirmed that Ork Warboss Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub is coming to Creative Assembly's Total War: Warhammer 40,000 — and he's getting a brand-new tabletop miniature at the same time. GW revealed both on Warhammer Community, showing off Nazdreg's new model complete with his Kustom Blasta X and Bad Moon banner, plus an in-game screenshot of how he looks in Total War.

Nazdreg is the boss of the Bad Moon clan and one of the most prominent Ork characters in the lore, sitting just behind the legendary Ghazghkull Thraka in the Ork pantheon. GW says he'll be one of the "key characters" players can battle with and against, featuring "heavily in some of the early in-game narrative, in events that tie in to the ongoing pivotal battles around Armageddon." That last detail matters — Armageddon is the war-torn world at the center of Warhammer 40,000's 11th edition narrative, and it's clearly a major setting for Total War as well. Nazdreg has his own history on Armageddon, which makes him a natural fit.

Nazdreg joins a confirmed named character list that's already shaping up nicely: Marneus Calgar of the Ultramarines, Commissar Sebastian Yarrick of the Astra Militarum, and Ghazghkull Thraka are all in. Yarrick and Ghazghkull have one of the most storied rivalries in 40K lore — decades of brutal war on Armageddon between the two — so seeing them clash in Total War should be a highlight. The Total War: Warhammer fantasy trilogy, also developed by Creative Assembly, built much of its appeal around exactly this kind of legendary character matchup, so the formula carries over naturally to 40K.

More named characters are still to be announced, and the current roster suggests at least one more Space Marine and one more Astra Militarum pick are coming, plus characters for the confirmed Aeldari faction. How exactly these named characters function in the campaign — whether as lords, heroes, or narrative set pieces — hasn't been detailed yet, but GW's wording around Nazdreg hints at a story-driven role tied to Armageddon's early campaign beats.
