Ubisoft has two new Far Cry games in development, report says

Ubisoft is working on not one but two new Far Cry titles, according to a new report — a mainline open-world entry and a separate spinoff. Neither has been officially announced by Ubisoft.

Details from the report are slim: one project is described as a new mainline Far Cry game, and the other as a spinoff. No platforms, release windows, settings, or developer credits are mentioned in the source.

Far Cry has been one of Ubisoft's flagship open-world franchises since Far Cry 3 redefined the series back in 2012. The most recent mainline entry, Far Cry 6, launched in 2021 and was followed by several DLC expansions. Ubisoft has been under significant financial pressure in recent years, leaning on its biggest brands — Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry — to stabilize its output. A new Far Cry in any form would be a meaningful release for the publisher.

The franchise is also expanding beyond games: a Far Cry TV show is currently in development, with Noah Hawley attached and Steve Buscemi recently joining the cast. No word yet on when Ubisoft plans to officially reveal either of the new games.
