Until Dawn 2 launches January 28, 2027 on PS5 — meet the Dead True crew and Akishima Island

Firesprite has announced Until Dawn 2 launches on PS5 on January 28, 2027. The sequel takes a new cast to Akishima Island, a remote South Pacific location abandoned since a luxury resort mysteriously shut down in the 1970s — and it's hiding centuries-old secrets.

The story follows Dead True, a team of fake ghost-hunting YouTubers — plus their chicken companion — who travel to the island after meeting Yoona (Gia Kim), a supernatural attack survivor, at HorrorCon in Sydney. The cast includes Owen (Dacre Montgomery), Mina (Camila Senna), Izzy (Sarah Catherine Hook), Nate (Spence Moore II), and four others: Reagan, Luke, Josie, and Cameron. The narrative was crafted in partnership with AdHoc Studio, the team behind Dispatch, and promises layered characters, sharp dialogue, and branching consequences for every decision — including whether to sacrifice the team's chicken in a live ritual or let it go and risk something worse. Dr. Hill, played by Peter Stormare, also returns.

Until Dawn started as a PS4 exclusive in 2015 and became one of the defining cinematic horror games of that generation, built around the butterfly-effect choice system where any character can live or die depending on player decisions. Firesprite — a Sony first-party studio — handled the 2024 PS5 and PC remake of the original, and now takes the lead on this full sequel. AdHoc Studio's involvement adds narrative pedigree; the studio is known for story-driven work on Dispatch.

Pre-orders open September 10 for both the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions. Pre-ordering either unlocks Dr. Hill-themed bonus content: a classic Until Dawn outfit, an Akishima Island holiday outfit, and Dr. Hill collector's bobbleheads to find in-game. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Y2K Neon Vibes Pack — neon costumes for all eight Dead True members — and a Diorama of Death feature that lets players revisit every death from unique angles.
