Voice actor Sally Beaumont on why narrative singleplayer games deserve a permanent spot in your PC library

Sally Beaumont — voice actor, writer, and BAFTA Breakthrough alumna — sat down with PC Gamer's Disk Cleanup series to talk about her PC gaming habits, her career, and why she thinks story-driven singleplayer games are worth keeping installed forever.

Beaumont is currently playing The Séance of Blake Manor, a game she's actually in — though she admits she's forgotten most of her own lines. She notes the game picked up a wave of new players after Blue Prince wrapped up, and she's been enjoying its rainy atmosphere during a heatwave. The time mechanic, which limits how much players can explore in a single run, has divided some fans, but Beaumont defends it: she played an early demo without it and told the developers years ago that adding it would make the game something special. Before that she was replaying Nelly Cootalot, Alasdair Beckett-King's love letter to Curse of Monkey Island, which she returns to regularly for its warmth and sharp jokes.

Beaumont's path into games voice acting traces back to The Curse of Monkey Island and Dominic Armato's performance as Guybrush Threepwood, which made her realise voice acting in games was a real career. After studying drama at the University of Exeter and years of voiceover work, she broke into games in 2017. Her credits include Heaven's Vault, The Excavation of Hob's Barrow, and Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader. Her biggest role to date is Old Skies — a time-travel adventure from Wadjet Eye Games where she both wrote and played the lead — which earned her a spot in the BAFTA Breakthrough program in 2025. She's currently working on El Paso, Elsewhere 2, among other projects.
