AC Black Flag Resynced director teases post-launch support through GTA 6 and beyond

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced game director Richard Knight has hinted that post-launch support for the remake will continue well past GTA 6's November 19 release date — and he's actively asking players not to abandon ship when Rockstar's juggernaut arrives.

Speaking to Assassin's Creed YouTuber JorRaptor, Knight confirmed the team is actively working on New Game Plus, calling it one of the first priorities. He noted that Assassin's Creed Shadows already built its own version, making it a lower-risk feature to implement for Resynced. Beyond that, Knight was cagey about specifics but signaled that bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements are also in the pipeline. "I mean, I can't say anything officially, but you know, it doesn't feel like a crazy bet," he said of continued support through November. "Also, please play us when GTA 6 comes out." Ubisoft had already confirmed New Game Plus last week alongside news that Resynced hit 3 million copies sold.

Black Flag Resynced launched to strong reviews — IGN gave it a 9/10, calling it "more than just a shinier version of the same game you remember." The original Black Flag, first released in 2013, is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the Assassin's Creed series, and the remake modernizes it with updated visuals and gameplay tweaks. Fans have also been vocal about wanting Freedom Cry — the original game's standalone DLC following first mate Adewale — to make the jump to Resynced, though Knight gave no indication that's on the table. GTA 6's November window has already spooked much of the industry into front-loading releases in September and October, making Ubisoft's willingness to keep supporting Resynced through that period a notable stance.

What comes after New Game Plus is still an open question, but Knight's comments suggest Ubisoft isn't treating Resynced as a one-and-done release. A challenge mode similar to the one added to Assassin's Creed Mirage — letting players replay missions with extra objectives to unlock cosmetics — is one possibility the team floated, though nothing has been confirmed.
