Apex Legends Marked season brings Bloodhound rework, Corrupted Attachments, and energy ammo overhaul

Respawn has published the Designer's Notes for Apex Legends' upcoming Marked season, laying out the biggest mechanical shakeup in recent memory. Bloodhound gets a full kit rework, Loba and Rampart receive buffs, Valkyrie, Seer, and Axle are getting nerfed, and energy ammo is being pulled from the loot pool entirely.

Bloodhound is the headline change. The devs note that despite a buff package back in Season 28, Bloodhound still has the lowest pick rate at Gold tier and above — practically invisible in mid-to-high skill brackets. The rework touches every ability in the kit, with the stated goal of making Bloodhound a genuinely competitive pick across all skill levels and delivering on the "true hunter fantasy." Loba and Rampart are also getting buffs to make them more attractive picks, while Valkyrie, Seer, and Axle are being dialed back to address player frustrations with their current strength. The weapon UI is also getting a full overhaul to make attachment stats clearer and easier to parse at a glance.

The most surprising addition is Corrupted Attachments — a new category of gear that comes with meaningful buffs but equally notable drawbacks. Respawn is explicitly framing these as risk-reward tools designed to shake up the attachment meta and push players into more deliberate decision-making. On the ammo side, energy weapons will no longer use ammo from the loot pool at all — they regenerate their own ammo passively. That's a fundamental shift in how energy weapons play and how players manage backpack space, and it's the kind of systemic change that tends to ripple through squad compositions and looting strategies alike. Respawn calls it a "Power Journey" revamp, aiming for more variety and player expression.

The full patch notes haven't dropped yet, but the Designer's Notes signal that Marked is shaping up to be one of the more ambitious seasonal updates Apex Legends has seen in a while. Community reaction to the Bloodhound rework in particular has been building for seasons, so the pressure is on Respawn to deliver on the hype.
