Mario Kart World update 1.7.0 adds two Knockout Tour routes, stickers in Photo Mode, and balance tweaks

Nintendo dropped Mario Kart World update 1.7.0 on Switch 2 today, adding two new Knockout Tour routes — Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally — alongside sticker support in Photo Mode and a handful of gameplay balance changes.

Drill Rally connects Wario Shipyard and Bowser's Castle, while Boomerang Rally runs an A-shaped path between Salty Salty Speedway and Whistlestop Summit. Both routes unlock once you've cleared at least one Knockout Tour rally, bringing the total number of available routes to 10, up from the eight the game launched with. Photo Mode now lets you place any stickers you've previously collected directly onto your shots, and they can be layered with frames too. On the balance side, the update raises acceleration for characters and vehicles that had low acceleration, boosts gliding speed for high-speed characters and certain others, and adjusts item box drop rates in both standard races and Knockout Tour. A ramp has also been added to the stretch from Airship Fortress to Bowser's Castle. Smaller mechanical tweaks include the ability to hop immediately after being hit by Kamek's magic or Bullet Bill, adjusted Jump Boost conditions when racing on water, longer dash time after landing on rivals, and the option to cancel a slipstream by braking before it kicks in. Players can now also see which rival is holding a Super Horn. Thai language support has been added as well. On the bug-fix side, an incorrect finish-line time in Time Trials has been corrected — affected ghost data may be removed from View Rankings.

Knockout Tour is one of Mario Kart World's headline new modes, built around a six-track elimination format where the four lowest-placed racers at each of five checkpoints get knocked out. Nintendo has been steadily expanding it since launch — multiplayer support arrived back in January — and the studio has confirmed more routes are still coming in future updates.

Nintendo hasn't announced a specific date for the next content drop, but the pace of updates suggests the studio is treating World as a live-service title with ongoing route and feature additions.
