The Pokémon Company's 30th anniversary celebrations have produced a lot of merchandise, but the Deluxe Character Book stands out as something genuinely useful — a premium hardcover encyclopedia covering all 1,025 Pokémon, from Bulbasaur to Pecharunt. The book is built to impress physically. Gold-lined pages and a cover packed with gold and silver line art of various Pokémon give it a coffee-table feel, though full color is reserved almost entirely for Pikachu — a choice that tells you something about the book's priorities. The franchise has always leaned on its Pokédex as a core piece of lore, and a physical, shelf-worthy version of that concept has obvious appeal — especially for the generation that grew up with the original 151 and has now watched the roster balloon past a thousand. The regional chapter structure mirrors how the games themselves are organized, which makes browsing feel intuitive for anyone who has played through the mainline series. The Pikachu favoritism is a known quantity at this point; the mascot's outsized presence in official Pokémon media is essentially a franchise constant.
