Square Enix open to bringing Final Fantasy XV to Nintendo hardware

Square Enix has signaled it would be open to releasing Final Fantasy XV on a Nintendo platform, though no concrete plans have been announced.

The source is thin on specifics — no platform, no timeline, and no official statement beyond the studio expressing openness to the idea. Final Fantasy XV originally launched in 2016 on PS4 and Xbox One, later arriving on PC in 2018 as the Royal Edition. A Nintendo version has never materialized despite the Switch's long run and the broader trend of Square Enix bringing older Final Fantasy titles to Nintendo hardware.

Square Enix has steadily expanded its Final Fantasy back catalog on Switch, with entries like Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy X/X-2, and various pixel remasters all making the jump. Final Fantasy XV remains one of the more notable absences, partly due to its technical demands — it was a showcase title for PS4-era hardware. Whether Switch 2's improved specs change that calculus is the obvious question.
