Steam has already made $15 billion in 2026, with Forza Horizon 6 and Crimson Desert leading the charge

Steam has pulled in $15 billion in revenue so far in 2026, according to Rhys Elliot, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics. With major releases like Phantom Blade Zero, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and Gears of War: E-Day still on the way, that number is almost certain to climb before the year is out.

The top new releases by gross revenue paint a clear picture of what's driving the platform. Forza Horizon 6 leads with $210.5 million, followed closely by Crimson Desert at $203.3 million and Resident Evil Requiem at $200.9 million. Slay the Spire 2 brought in over $148 million, Subnautica 2 added $139.2 million, and Meccha Chameleon rounded out the notable earners at $89.8 million. Combined, the top 100 new games account for about $2.4 billion — roughly 15.9% of Steam's total 2026 revenue so far, with the six titles above making up just 6.6% of that $15 billion on their own.

Elliot's breakdown also highlights an interesting split between new and established IP. Of the top 100 new games, 63% were new IP, but established franchises punched above their weight — pulling in 52.5% of the revenue, or around $1.25 billion. Crimson Desert is a standout anomaly: as a new IP, it alone accounts for roughly 18% of all new-IP revenue in that top 100. Strip it out, and the remaining 62 new-IP titles drop to just 39% of the group's revenue. As Elliot put it, "a lot of established IP is doing the legwork, as you'd expect."

Steam's $15 billion doesn't come from game sales alone — Valve takes a cut of microtransactions and DLC sold through the platform too, which adds up fast given how many live-service titles call Steam home. With the holiday release window approaching and several high-profile games still to launch, analysts expect the final 2026 figure to land significantly higher than where it sits today.
