Capcom's 2026 is going great — Resident Evil Requiem hits 8 million, Pragmata surprises at 2.5 million

Capcom is having a strong 2026, with two major releases driving impressive sales figures across the board. Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in the series, has crossed 8 million units sold since its February launch, adding over a million copies in the most recent quarter alone. Meanwhile, brand-new IP Pragmata — out since April — has moved 2.5 million copies and actually topped Capcom's entire portfolio as the best-selling title this quarter.

The numbers tell an interesting story across the wider catalog too. Despite Requiem's solid performance, it ranks as one of the lower sellers in the franchise over the same comparable period — the remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 all outpaced it historically. The full Resident Evil franchise has now hit 213 million lifetime units, cementing it as Capcom's most lucrative series. Devil May Cry 5 posted nearly 1.3 million sales in the last three months, a figure almost certainly boosted by the second season of the Devil May Cry Netflix anime and the game's arrival on Nintendo Switch 2. Monster Hunter World quietly kept ticking along with just under 800,000 units in the same window. Notably, Monster Hunter Wilds figures were absent from this quarter's report entirely.

Pragmata's success is worth underlining. New IPs from major publishers are a genuine rarity in an era dominated by sequels and remakes, and a 2.5 million seller in its first few months is a real statement. Capcom has historically leaned hard on its legacy franchises — Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter — so a fresh property landing this well gives the studio a meaningful new pillar to build on.

Capcom isn't slowing down for the second half of the year either. Onimusha: Way of the Sword, reviving a beloved but long-dormant action series, launches September 4. And further down the road, Resident Evil Veronica has been announced as the next major remake, reimagining the Dreamcast-era classic for modern platforms.
