Deltarune Chapter 5 patch 0.0.247 is out on Steam and PS, Switch version pending approval

Toby Fox has pushed Deltarune Chapter 5 update ver. 0.0.247 to Steam and PlayStation, with the Switch 1 and Switch 2 version already submitted to the eShop and waiting on Nintendo's approval. Fox confirmed the submission on Bluesky, saying it will go live as soon as it clears the review process.

The patch fixes a solid list of bugs: the JusticeAxe item was incorrectly handed out from the CastleTown cliff hole even on saves that never obtained the Shadow Crystal in Chapter 4; an aqua miniboss's grazed bullets were erroneously extending attack duration; the bread-smashing time attack had a broken 0-digit display; and an armor piece meant to boost invincibility frames wasn't working against the chapter boss. The update also squashes memory leaks that were causing random crashes on PS4, a softlock tied to Rude Buster in the platforming battle before the final boss, and a handful of graphical glitches including train blueprints floating in mid-air. On the content side, the Cliffs' shop gets new dialogue that triggers in what Fox describes as an extremely obscure circumstance, the Castle Town manual now references Susie's SCYTHEMARE, and three new names have been added to the credits — Matt Cummings for Festival Concept Art, Zu Ehtisham for Platforming VFX, and Marcy Nabors for Music Assistance.

Chapter 5 launched on Switch 1 and Switch 2 late last month, following its earlier PC and PlayStation release. An earlier patch, ver. 0.0.241, had already landed on the Nintendo platforms shortly after launch, so 0.0.247 is the second post-launch fix pass. Deltarune as a whole is Toby Fox's follow-up to Undertale, released in episodic chapters over several years — Chapter 5 is the latest, and Fox has already quietly signaled a release window for Chapter 6.

Switch players should expect the update within the next few days once Nintendo completes its approval process. Nintendo Life noted in their updated Chapter 5 review that the chapter is "a bit underwhelming as a standalone" but still has plenty to offer fans of the series.
