Deltarune Chapter 6 is targeting a 2027 release, Toby Fox confirms

Toby Fox has confirmed that Deltarune Chapter 6 is already in development and targeting a 2027 release — the news slipped out quietly via an update to the game's Steam FAQ page, posted the same day Chapter 5 launched.

Deltarune Chapter 5: Festival Day dropped on June 24 as a free update for owners of the base game. Fox used the Steam FAQ to address fan questions head-on: no, Chapter 5 is not the end of the story — more chapters will be added for free over time. On Chapter 6 specifically, Fox wrote, "We are aiming for a 2027 release! Meanwhile, we will be periodically releasing information on the development progress of the game."

The gap between Deltarune chapters has been notoriously uneven. Chapter 1 launched in 2018, Chapter 2 didn't arrive until 2021, and Chapters 3 and 4 came out together in 2025. Chapter 5 following in 2026 and Chapter 6 already slated for 2027 suggests the development pace has genuinely picked up. The game is available on Windows PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

If the 2027 target holds and the pattern continues, a seventh and final chapter — which would wrap up a story that started in 2018 — could land in 2028. Fox hasn't confirmed how many chapters the game will ultimately have, so that math remains speculative for now.
