Fortnite Hot Bat Summer is live with revealing DC skins, a Bat Cave POI, and five weeks of quests

Fortnite's Hot Bat Summer kicked off July 16, bringing a five-week DC Comics crossover packed with new swimsuit skins, Batman-themed gameplay additions, and a wave of free quest rewards. The event runs until roughly two weeks before the next season, which is expected to start around August 20.

The headliners are four new outfits — Beach Bod Batman, Coastal Catwoman, High Tide Harley, and Chlorophyll Ivy — each inspired by DC Comics' annual swimsuit covers and priced at 1,500 V-Bucks individually. Bundles are also available, including a High Tide Harley and Sunflower Ivy bundle for 2,300 V-Bucks. Poison Ivy's skin is arguably the most revealing in Fortnite history, revealing enough that Epic has locked both her and Harley Quinn out of creator-made modes rated for players 12 and under — a restriction the studio has previously only applied to horror-themed skins like Venom or the Xenomorph. All four outfits are available in the Item Shop from July 16 at 8 p.m. EDT, each with a LEGO variant, Pickaxe, and Back Bling. On the gameplay side, the event adds a Bat Cave as a new POI, the Batman Beach Buggy — a vehicle that can drive on water and glide through the air — and the Batman Grapnel Gun. A new Batman Sprite lets players deploy a Bat Cape mid-air and increases the odds of finding rare Sprites in chests. Completing quests also earns free cosmetics, with a comic-book-page-styled glider among the highlights. On July 18, Shiny Hours run from 2–4 p.m. EDT and 9–11 p.m. EDT: all players start rounds with a Grapnel Gun and Self-Revive Device, while Batman Sprites, Beach Buggies, and Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, and Holofoil Sprite variants spawn more frequently. The Beach Buggy itself doesn't appear on the map by default but randomly spawns at three of several fixed locations each match — Frosted Flats and the Bat Cave are the most reliable spots across testing.

Hot Bat Summer is the latest step in Fortnite's gradual drift toward more revealing cosmetics, a shift that began in earnest when Kim Kardashian's skin introduced cleavage, followed by Homer Simpson becoming the first skin with nipples. The trend mirrors what Marvel Rivals has been doing with its own superhero roster. The update also quietly adds skins for David Beckham and Matt Damon as Odysseus from The Odyssey, available in the Item Shop in the coming days. A trailer for the event features music and a brief cameo from Addison Rae.

Community reaction has been predictably loud — the skins generated enough pre-launch buzz that fans briefly convinced themselves Epic had censored them before release, which turned out to be false. With five weeks of quests, Shiny Hours, and a steady drip of free rewards, Epic is clearly building this into one of the bigger mid-season events of Chapter 7 Season 3.
