Onimusha: Way of the Sword release date and unlock times confirmed

Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on PC on Friday, September 4, with a simultaneous global release at 12 am EDT / 5 am BST. Unlike the console versions, which unlock at midnight in each local timezone, the PC release hits at the same moment worldwide — so players east of UTC -4 get it a little later than their console counterparts.

Here are the key unlock times: Los Angeles gets it at 9 pm PDT on Thursday, September 3; New York at 12 am EDT on Friday; London at 5 am BST; Berlin at 6 am CEST; New Delhi at 9:30 am IST; Sydney at 2 pm AEST; and Auckland at 4 pm NZST. Preloading is available on Steam right now, so you can have everything installed and ready to go at launch. The one catch: Capcom says preloading is not available on the Epic Games Store, so EGS buyers will need to download at launch.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the long-awaited revival of Capcom's samurai action series, which went dormant after Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in 2006. The new entry stars Miyamoto Musashi — yes, the legendary swordsman — and blends classic Capcom action with what PC Gamer's Wes Fenlon described as a "sublime mix of classic Capcom action and weighty physical swordfighting" in his review.
