Rumour: Onimusha: Way of the Sword reportedly lands on PS5 on 25th September

A social media leaker is claiming that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on PS5 on 25th September 2026. The same source previously leaked the Rayman Legends: Retold logo, which gives them at least some credibility.

The leaker does flag that this is older information and the date may have shifted. That said, a PlayStation State of Play is happening within the next 48 hours, so an official confirmation — or denial — shouldn't be far off. Summer Game Fest follows just days after that. If the date holds, September 2026 on PS5 stacks up like this: The Blood of Dawnwalker on 3rd September, Phantom Blade Zero on 9th September, Marvel's Wolverine on 15th September, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter on 17th September, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword on 25th September.

The reason September is so packed comes down to GTA 6 sitting in November — publishers are actively steering clear of the window around Rockstar's release. Fable already slipped to February 2027 with GTA 6 cited as a direct factor. Of the big releases, only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is going anywhere near it, slotted for 23rd October — still nearly a month before GTA 6 arrives.
